“As a founder who once felt far removed from AI, I’m building the AI device that feels closer to people than any other.”
For 12 years, I worked across seven industries—including as the COO of a tech startup—before encountering the age of AI. But what stood out to me first was not the brilliance of the technology, but its “high barrier.” As someone with a humanities background, the frustration I felt with technology directly reflected the reality faced by countless people who could not access AI. After investing my severance pay in our first venture and navigating a pivot, I became convinced that we needed to build not “what we could make,” but “a device people truly need.” I want everyone to experience how naturally accessible AI can make everyday life easier, without demanding complex study. Within the vast universe of technology (Cosmic), my goal is for NOVA to become the nearest, brightest star—one that illuminates people’s daily lives.

“AI that changes your life simply by being at your side—that is the NOVA that GENIE creates.”
I am obsessed with AI. I began as a mechanical design engineer, but after discovering AI, I spent 10 years relentlessly exploring its possibilities—researching around 100 generative AI services and personally building around 200 side projects. From apps and firmware to servers and AI, I design every step that turns a user’s words into a device’s response, then implement and verify it all the way through on real hardware. AI completely transformed my own life, and today I share that transformation by helping non-developers understand and use AI. That is why I keep complex technology out of sight and build AI that anyone can use naturally. Because I understand AI more deeply than anyone, I want to bring it into people’s everyday lives in its simplest, most approachable form.

“AI that lives and breathes in people’s everyday lives—that is the NOVA that MAY envisions.”
I learned how technology works by studying electronic engineering. Later, driven by a desire to connect technology with people, I spent about three years working in advertising and content, where I learned how to move people’s hearts. After discovering generative AI, I carved out a field of my own as a creator and writer, producing images and videos and building characters and worlds. By personally creating AI content that garnered more than five million views and teaching countless people how to use AI, I realized one thing: people do not want technology that is more complex and advanced, but AI that feels approachable and understands their everyday lives. My journey with NOVA began with the question, “What if AI became not a tool on a screen, but a presence that lives alongside us?” That is why, rather than focusing only on the device’s form, I strive more than anyone to understand and express, from a human perspective, how NOVA expresses itself, what its voice sounds like, and what kind of relationship it builds with the user.
